Pretty much all of the top Melee streamers use this method.Īfter I installed Blackmagic Video Utility and Media Express, etc, I plugged the BMIS into a USB 3.0 port on my new laptop and set up my video circuit as described above. This allows streamers to capture 480p Melee while simultaneously allowing the game to be played on non-progressive CRTs laglessly over 480i. Getting a perfect 480p60 Melee stream more or less requires the game to be played on a Wii, with a component cable connecting the Wii to the BMIS’s YPbPr inputs, and then the BMIS is set to laglessly output 480i over a composite cable to a CRT. Because of this, the BMIS has actually become the capture card of choice for competitive Melee streamers due to its unique passthrough features. Melee tournaments, which requires a very specific setup due to the game’s max output resolution of 480p and the general requirement that streamed tournament games be played on CRTs laglessly. I recently purchased a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle for USB 3.0 and I’ve been having some trouble getting it to work as intended.
